[November 9, 2016] Oshane Archibald among other G.C. Foster College long distant runners has been doing well in the various long distant meets both locally and regionally. Oshane, a student in the G.C. Foster College Massage programme has been one of the dominant long distance athletes in Jamaica. He has made the North American, Central American and Caribbean Championships (NACAC) Cross Country team to Venezuela in January, obtaining a silver medal in the 10,000 M in a time of 32:24. Archibald has been a force to be reckoned with on the local Intercol scene where he has been rated the Intercol Athletic Championship champion boy for 2014 and 2015 participating in the 1500 M, 3000 M, 3000 M Steeple chase and 5000 M. He has been quite prolific in his efforts, smashing the 20 year old 5000 M Intercol record of 15:30 and stamping a new record of 15:18. He also won the 5000M at the Kirkvine Track Meet in January with a time of 15:45;
Oshane has also been a road race lover, participating in many races across the island, thereby honing his talent. He entered the Church Teacher’s College 5k race winning in 154:57; Knox College 8K was also won by Oshane in a time of 23:40. The Mico University hosted their 5k in October and Archibald won in a time of 15:19. He also came in second in the Digicel and Burger King 5k and 10K in times of 16:40 and 32:04 respectively.
